Alinda ("Alinda," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Alinda paper-trading application, available as a website at alinda.app and as a mobile app ("the Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By using the Service you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Who we are
Alinda is a paper-trading (virtual-money) simulation for tracking stocks and crypto, managing practice portfolios, keeping watchlists, and competing on seasonal leaderboards. No real money, securities, or funds are ever involved.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at contact@alinda.app. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account you provide an email address and a password, or you sign in with a third-party provider such as Google or Apple. If you use one of these providers, we receive your email address and, where available, your name and profile basics; with Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email, in which case we receive Apple's private relay address. We also store the username and display name you choose in the app.
Content you create. We store the practice portfolios, holdings, watchlists, virtual trades and transaction history, season entries, and profile settings (such as portfolio visibility) that you create while using the Service. All trades are simulated and use virtual money — we do not collect real financial account numbers, bank details, or brokerage credentials.
Payment information. If you subscribe to Alinda Pro, the purchase is processed by the Apple App Store and, in the mobile app, our subscription-management provider. We receive a confirmation of your subscription status and identifiers needed to grant access, but we do not receive or store your full card number or bank details — those are held by the app store and its payment processors.
Usage and technical data. When you use the Service we automatically collect technical information such as your device type, operating system, app version, approximate region, IP address, log data, and diagnostic or crash reports. This helps us keep the Service running, secure, and reliable.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- save and display your portfolios, watchlists, trades, and activity;
- show leaderboards, seasons, public profiles, and public portfolios you choose to make visible;
- provide market data, prices, charts, and company/asset information;
- operate paid subscriptions (Alinda Pro) and apply the correct plan limits;
- diagnose problems, monitor errors, prevent abuse, and improve the Service;
- communicate with you about your account, security, and important changes;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Legal bases (where applicable)
Where data-protection law (such as the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK) applies, we rely on these legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you requested), legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the Service and prevent abuse), consent (where you opt in, for example by making a portfolio public), and legal obligation (where we must retain or disclose data by law).
Information that is public
Alinda has social features. If you choose to make a portfolio public, join a season, or appear on a leaderboard, the following may be visible to other users: your username, display name, profile, and the performance of that portfolio (such as its value and return). Season entries are public by design and remain viewable after the season ends.
Portfolios you keep private are not shown to other users. You control visibility in the app and can change it at any time.
Who we share information with
We share data with service providers ("processors") who help us run the Service. They may only process data on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Authentication and database hosting — to store your account and content and to sign you in (including Google OAuth as a sign-in option).
- Application hosting and content delivery — to serve the website and the app's backend.
- Error monitoring and analytics — to detect crashes and diagnose problems.
- Market-data and asset-information providers — to supply prices, charts, logos, and company/asset details.
- Subscription and app-store providers — to process Alinda Pro purchases and confirm subscription status.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Alinda. If Alinda is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal data.
International transfers
Our providers may process and store data in countries other than the one you live in. Where required, we take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection when it is transferred internationally.
Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password and account access safe.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- update your profile — change your username, display name, and portfolio visibility in the app;
- make portfolios private — so they are not shown to other users;
- access, correct, or export the personal data we hold about you;
- delete your account and associated data;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app controls or email contact@alinda.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "updated" date at the top. Significant changes may be communicated in the app or by other means. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
